Toronto Police have suspended an officer for allegedly leaking information surrounding last week's terror threat at the CN Tower.
The allegations are that he gave details of the alleged threat to his friends, who live in the area around the popular tourist attraction.
The information indicated there was a threat of a possible ramming attack, that was to happen last Thursday.
Toronto Police spokesperson Meaghan Grey tells NEWSTALK 1010, that the officer has been sent home with pay, while the internal investigation is conducted.
But, it doesn't end there.
"The service was also made aware of the unauthorized release of the draft unapproved operational plan, that was released to the media, so a separate professional standards investigation is being conducted into that matter as well." says Grey.
The officer who has been suspended, hasn't been identified.
NEWSTALK1010's crime specialist, Mark Mendelson says punishments could range from reprimand, all the way to dismissal.
But he suggests it will likely be that he'll have to work several days without pay, as a punishment.
