A man has died of his injuries following a police-involved shooting in Scarborough Tuesday night.
Monica Hudon, a spokesperson for the the province's Special Investigation Unit (SIU) confirmed the man succumb to his injuries after being shot by police.
"Officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle moved forward and struck a police officer. Another police officer then discharged his firearm at the vehicle multiple times. The man was struck and transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead."
Hudon could not elaborate on the extent of the injuries to the officer, who was also taken to hospital.
The incident occurred on Midland Avenue near Midwest Road at around 8 p.m.
But Hudon did confirm the Guns and Gangs unit was "investigating" the driver of the vehicle and was attempting to pull it over when the incident occurred.
Three other passengers were in the vehicle, but their involvement was not clear.
Video sent to our media partner CP24 by a viewer shows the moments leading up to the shooting, with multiple undercover vehicles surrounding the suspect's white Mercedez Benz.
Five investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or also has video to cotnact them.
