Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health is confirming a new case of COVID-19 in Toronto, the province's eighth in all and third in 24 hours.
The latest case of the coronavirus is in a man in his 80s who recently travelled to Egypt.
Officials say the man arrived in Toronto Feb. 20 and went to the Scarborough Health Network's General Hospital's emergency department for care Feb. 27. The man was isolated, cared for and tested for COVID-19. When he felt better that same day, the man was discharged and ordered into self-isolation at home.
Toronto Public Health is trying to track down anyone he may have come into contact with.
Dr. David Williams plans to share more at a regularly-scheduled update on coronavirus at 3 p.m. Monday
