Brace yourself for a painful flu season.
You can begin getting your vaccinations this week just as some outbreaks are already being seen across Ontario.
It appears the H3N2 strain will be the most dominant which could make for one of the worst seasons in years.
The H3N2 flu strain hasn't really made the rounds the past couple of years.
Ontario's Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Williams explains people haven't built up much of an immunity to it.
"That usually means it's going to be more active, more intensive in its action. There is less overall community immunity to the aspect of the H3N2. So, we're encouraging you to get out and to get out soon. We've already had some outbreaks in some centers."
Williams suggests getting your flu shot in the next couple of weeks...or else it might be too late.
Patients between the ages of two and 17 who may be afraid of a needle can once again get vaccinated through a nasal spray.
