For only the second time in the last six days, Ontario has recorded fewer than 400 new cases of COVID-19.
335 new cases of the virus have been reported today, marking a drop compared to the 478 new cases yesterday.
102 of those new cases came in Toronto, 79 in Peel Region and 65 in Ottawa. Those three areas are considered the "hot spots" in the province. York Region also reported 30 new cases today, which is an increase compared to yesterday.
More than 34,000 tests have been completed, with more than 48,000 tests still under investigation, or people who have been tested but are waiting for their results. That means the percentage of people testing positive is just slightly below 1%, when it was 1.3% on Tuesday.
69% of the cases came in people 40-years-old and younger. However, just 8% of the new cases have come in people 60-years-old or older. That's the age bracket, where 95% of the deaths in the province have occurred.
The number of active cases in the proivince continues to climb, with 3,652 people currently infected with COVID-19, province-wide. When you look at the speicific health units, only six have more than 100 active cases.
The number of people in hospital rose by six to 88, while the number of people in ICU remained flat at 24. The number of people on ventilators dropped slightly, down to nine.
