It's not a drop, but it's not a jump either.
Provincial health officials are reporting 409 new cases of COVID-19, which is the same number as yesterday.
It's a touch higher than the seven-day average of 402 new cases.
Toronto is reporting 204 of the new infections, with 66 in Peel Region and 40 in Ottawa. As a matter of fact, 80% of the new cases come in the GTA, (including York Region, Halton and Durham). Only 82 cases were reported in the rest of the province.
65% of the new cases come in people aged 40 or younger, marking a slight increase compared to yesterday. But, only 11% of the new cases come in the 60+ age category, a demographic that makes up 95% of all deaths so far in this province.
Just one new death to report on Friday.
The number of tests completed nearly reached 42,000, which would be a new one-day record. However, provincial health officials say that number includes the number of tests not reported on Thursday, because of a technical glitch. So, there's no way of knowing exactly how many tests were completed.
The number of active cases continues to grow, now up to 3,899 in the province. That's the highest it's been since June 8th. However, on June 8th, there was 603 people in hospital and 118 people in ICU. Today, there's 87 people in hospital and 25 in the ICU.
