The Ontario PCs have confirmed the minimum wage will stay at $14-an-hour for the foreseeable future.
Under the previous Liberal government it was set to increase to $15-an-hour in the new year.
"The increase of 20 per cent this year was a lot for businesses to absorb so we're putting a pause on the minimum wage at $14-an-hour," says Labour Minister Laurie Scott.
She argues her government is doing plenty to make life easier for low-income earners. "We're also helping the low-income people in Ontario with tax breaks; we're making life more affordable with decrease in hydro and gas prices."
Scott wouldn't commit to when or if the minimum wage would be increased, again.
