The Green Energy Fund was launched in 2017, with money raised through the provincial cap-and-trade program.
But now, the incoming PC government is doing away with cap-and-trade, and along with it, the fund.
The program offered thousands of dollars in rebates to homeowners and businesses who completed renovations to make their homes and buildings more energy-efficient.
For example, the program offered $7,200 off new insulation, $5,000 off new windows and free smart thermostats.
Originally the program launched with $377 million dollars, but the last budget tabled by the Liberals, promised as much as $1.7 billion for the program.
Those who have already signed up for the rebate, will still be eligible if the work is completed by the end of August.
More than 140 thousand Ontarians have already taken advantage of it.
