The OPP are investigating a suspicious letter sent to local media in Huntsville that makes threats against beaches in the Muskoka region.
The letter claims it is written by a group called the Islamic Revolutionary Force and threatens to destroy beaches and the tourist industry from Toronto to North Bay.
"We have started with the Muskokas and other tourist destinations," the letter writes. "Your northern towns are extremely easy targets, unlike cities."
This comes a few weeks after broken glass was found on the beaches of Bracebridge and Gravenhurst.
Police have not found a link at this time between the hazardous litter and the suspicious letter.
Bracebridge mayor Graydon Smith says they are taking the matter seriously and while police investigate who wrote the letter, public works staff are keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.
"I'm quite confident that our community is a safe community," Smith says. "I don't think that we should be letting a letter that is vague in its references slow anyone down from the enjoyment they've always gotten when they visit Muskoka."
