An Ontario Provincial Police officer suffered minor injuries after the cruiser he was sitting in was rear ended Saturday morning.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a periscope video on Twitter the collision happened around 2:40 a.m. on Highway 404 near Bethesda Side Road.
Schmidt said the officer was inside the cruiser with the lights on and blocking a lane of traffic to assist in an investigation.
A vehicle drove up from behind hitting the back of the cruiser.
The officer was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. Sgt. Schmidt says the officer has been released from hospital.
Sgt. Schmidt said this could have been much worse and everyone need to remember to slow down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles on highways.
