Police say a man has been charged with arson following a stabbing in Oshawa, that led to a standoff with police.
Durham regional police say the incident happened early Monday morning, when officers arrived at the scene of an alleged stabbing.
They allege the man stabbed someone during an argument, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries, and then fled to his home nearby.
Police say the suspect barricaded himself inside the apartment and refused to come out following a negotiation.
They say that hours later, the man jumped from a window of the home, which by then was on fire.
Investigators say a 44-year-old from Oshawa was charged with arson, assault with a weapon and uttering threats, among other things.
