An Oshawa man has died after a reported explosion, and what officials are calling a "completely innocent" accident.
Firefighters were called to a home on Park Rd south of Hwy 401 Thursday morning.
Oshawa fire chief Derrick Clark says when his crews arrived, they found a man inside the home without vital signs.
It appears that his oxygen-assistance machine caught fire, possibly after he lit a cigarette, but Clark says there was no tank and nothing actually exploded.
The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Ontario Fire Marshal's office has been called in to investigate.
