Despite calls from three of four leadership candidates to extend the voting period, the Progressive Conservative party maintains that their new leader will be named Saturday.
Doug Ford, Tanya Granic Allen and Caroline Mulroney have called for an extra week for PC members to cast their ballots for the successor to Patrick Brown.
In a late night statement, the PC leadership election organizing committee says it believes an extension would be a fundamental change of rules late in the campaign and be contrary to the party's constitution.
PC members have complained about late-arriving registration codes and other difficulties voting.
The party has extended the registration period until 8 p.m. Thursday. The deadline to vote is Friday at noon.
