Rock band Pearl Jam is postponing the first leg of their new tour, which was scheduled to kick off in Toronto.
In a statement, the band says after learning about large public gatherings is high on the list of things to avoid, they have to keep safety as the top priority.
"So it is with deep frustration and regret that we are forced to make this most unfortunate of announcements... This scheduled first leg of our PJ/Gigaton tour will need to be postponed and shows rescheduled for a later date," the band said.
The first show was scheduled to be March 18th in Toronto, followed by three more Canadian shows.
The European leg of the tour begins in June in Frankfurt.
"We’ve worked hard with all our management and business associates to find other solutions or options but the levels of risk to our audience and their communities is simply too high for our comfort level," the statement said.
The band said tickets will be honoured for future shows and that Ticketmaster would be in touch with fans.
