Police say they're looking for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Mississauga earlier this weekend.
Peel Regional Police say the incident happened sometime between 7:15 and 7:50 p.m. on Friday, when the 54-year-old man was crossing Dundas St. E. near Wharton Way, east of Dixie Road.
The man died of his injuries at the scene. Police say the person driving the car that struck him drove away.
Investigators have identified the victim as Gianfranco (John) Zucatti, a father and Mississauga resident.
According to evidence left at the scene, police are searching for a red Dodge Challenger from either 2017 or 2018.
They say the car is missing its right side mirror and would have damage to its right front headlight as well as the front bumper.
Because they still don't know the exact time he was struck, Peel Police are urging as many witnesses as possible to come forward.
One witness at the scene told CP24 Friday evening "you could tell he was in trauma. There was no way, I didn't think he was alive at all."
"I was terrified just looking at the body."
Investigators are also appealing to anyone with surveillance or dashcam footage of the incident to give them a call at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3710.
