Third time seems to be a charm, for a Peel Regional Police officer.
Constable Douglas Poirier was arrested for a third time on Friday, the last two for allegedly breaching conditions of his bail.
And now, it appears he's set to stay in custody until then end of November.
The officer, who has been with Peel Police since 1986, was first arrested in June, on charges of domestic assault. He was released on the conditions he doesn't speak or come into contact with the victim.
But on October 28th, Poirier was arrested in a Brampton parking lot, after it's alleged he got into a verbal arguement with the victim.
He was released again, and again was saddled with the condition that he not come into contact with the victim.
And on Friday, he's alleged to have breached that condition for a second time.
Poirier has been suspended from the force since his original arrest in June.
His next court date is on November 28th in Brampton.
Lawyer Boris Bytensky with CrimLaw Canada says anyone, police officer or not, would have trouble getting bail after slipping up twice before. But he did say Poirier would likely be held in segregation until his next appearance, for his own protection.
