A $21-million lawsuit has been filed against the Chief of Police in Peel Region.
The suit also names the Peel Region force, along with its civilian oversight board, and several police officers involved in a deadly police shooting from March of 2015.
Allegations are Chief Evans interfered in a controversial investigation into the death of Marc Ekamba-Boekwa and the young woman who was hit by a stray bullet from the deadly volley of police fire.
Zreik became forever tied to Peel Regional Police the 9mm round crashed though the window of her Mississauga home.
It came from gun of a cop who had confronted Ekamba-Boekwa at a house nearby.
Zreik survived, but the bullet barely missed her spine.
Zreik's lawyer claims that Peel Region's police chief made a middle-of-the-night hospital visit before investigators with Ontario's police watchdog agency had a chance to speak with her.
None of the claims have been proven in court.
