A person was struck and killed by a GO train on the Lakeshore West line this morning.
The incident happened just before 11 am on the tracks between Port Credit GO Station and Long Branch GO Station, suspending service
on GO Transit's Lakeshore West line. Metrolinx spokesperson Vanessa Barrasa coroborrated the incident to CP24. "Unfortunately it is a confirmed fatality".
The passengers on the train remain stranded unable to leave until police complete their investigation.
“In these situations our thoughts go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased,” Barrasa said. “For those on the train we ask for your patience. We know these situations are difficult for everyone.”
Police are currently on scene investigating and GO Transit adds that service could be impacted for two to three hours.
