Petro-Canada is letting the public know that an employee who works at one of their locations in Brampton has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The gas station located on Hurontario at Mayfield Road.
There's also a Tim Hortons in the building.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown confirmed the news to our media partner CTV News Toronto Sunday morning, adding that the individual worked at the 11980 Hurontario Street location.
Brown is advising anyone who went there for gas, coffee or supplies, between March 9th and 20th, to self-isolate for 14 days.
“I will note that Peel Public Health has said that in this case it would be transient exposure which isn’t as significant of a risk but I think right now caution is the key word and we all need to embrace an abundance of caution, Brown tells CTV News Toronto.
“If you went there even just to fill up or even just to get coffee I would as a precaution self-isolate for 14 days.”
The location has been temporarily closed for extensive cleaning and staff have been asked to go into self-isolation for 14 days.
Public health officials have previously said that self-isolation is recommended if you live with or have spent an extended period of time with someone who has tested positive for the coronavirus.
