Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet says the team considered not playing their opening game of the second round of the NBA playoffs.
The move would have been in protest of the police shooting of a black man in Wisconsin last weekend.
Jacob Blake was shot seven times and his family says he's now paralyzed from the waist down.
The Raptors open the second round against Boston on Thursday.
The team held a meeting today before practice to discuss how they could respond to the shooting.
"What are we willing to give up, do we actually give a f--- about what's going on, or is it cool to wear Black Lives Matter on a backdrop or a t-shirt, what does that really mean?" says VanVleet. "Is it really doing anything?"
He says they need to put pressure on pressure on the DA's office and state's attorney, along with governors and politicians to make real change and get some justice.
Teammate Norm Powell echoed the sentiment felt by VanVleet.
"The police officers that are involved in these instances aren't scared...the taxpayers are paying for these administrative leaves...Ain't nothing gonna change (until we) stand up and demand things. Until that is done, ain't s--- gonna change."
Powell also indicated that a boycott is being talked about.
"Taking a knee for the anthem, that's not getting the job done. That's getting washed out...Something has to happen where you're forcing those people who can make the change to do something."
There's no indication at this point, that players have decided to boycott game 1.
