The Toronto Police Services Board and the Toronto Police Association announced that both parties reached tentative five-year agreements for the six collective bargaining agreements that represent both uniform and civilian staff members.
Posted to the Board's website Saturday afternoon, it says the tentative contracts will now go to both the Association membership and the board for ratification and final approval.
The tentative agreements follow two months of collective bargaining, and come just after the board approved the increase to the TPS budget in three years.
That increase of $30 million will cover the hiring of 300 new officers, 122 special constables and 186 part-time retirees who will be assigned to desk work.
Toronto Police and the association representing the city's officers has been fraught in recent years, with the association criticizing aspects of TPS's transformation that began in 2017.
