Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders joined NEWSTALK 1010's Moore in the Morning Monday, revealing the results of an eight-week anti-gun violence initiative.
Saunders says there were 247 gun-related arrests and over 135 firearms seized.
The initiative saw 200 extra officers patrolling Toronto's at-risk neighbourhoods between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m.
It was expected to cost about $3 million.
Asked about the actual cost, Saunders did not provide a number.
"I wasn't too focused on the cost," Saunders says. "The only factor of the cost for me was making sure that I was efficient and effective with deployment of the men and women and I'm satisfied that we were."
Saunders says the force is not continuing this initiative but it will be taking a strategic approach to its deployment of officers to certain areas.
