Police say at least 10 people at a Toronto health centre were recorded by a hidden camera inside a staff washroom.
The pinhole camera was discovered Friday inside a silver thermos at the Rexdale Community Health Centre.
"I believe an employee went to use the bathroom and they found the thermos," Toronto police const. Allyson Douglas-Cook tells NEWSTALK 1010. "They looked at it to determine which member of the staff it may have belong to and at that point they realized that there was a camera attached to the thermos."
Wayne Bassaragh is charged with voyeurism, mischief and corrupting morals.
Bassaragh works as a chiropodist at the Rexdale Community Health Centre and at other clinics across the GTA.
The foot doctor's biography on the Ontario Society of Chiropodists website describes him as "dedicated to the vision of optimal foot health for a diverse marginalized population seen in publicly funded Ontario Community Health Centres." It says Bassaragh launched a publicly-funded chiropody clinic for the mentally ill and homeless in Parkdale in 2000.
Reached by NEWSTALK 1010 Tuesday, the Ontario Society of Chiropodists would not say if Bassaragh continued to be a member in good standing but planned to issue a statement.
"There is a possibility that this may not be the first time that this person may have done something of this nature," Douglas-Cook says.
