Toronto Police are searching for a suspect they believe is armed and dangerous after an alleged carjacking in the Lawrence Avenue West and Dufferin Street area Saturday night.
Police say it begin as a collision after the suspect crashed a green Ford Focus near Playfair and Marianfield Avenues around 5 p.m. He then got out of the car and pointed what's believed to be a sawed-off shotgun at people who were offering to help him.
The suspect then carjacked a woman's minivan at gunpoint speeding out of the area.
The suspect is described as a skinny black man in his 20s, 6'1" with dreadlocks. He was wearing a red Blue Jays jersey with Bautista on the back.
The stolen minivan is a Dodge Caravan with the licence plate BVYP 766
Toronto Police Constable David Hopkinson tells CP24 they have the green Ford Focus and forensics is going over it to find out who owns the vehicle.
Const. Hopkinson is asking anyone who saw the incident, has dashcam video or pictures to contact police.
He also says if you see the suspect or stolen minivan to not approach the man, but call 911 immediately.
