Homicide investigators are appealing for anyone with security footage to come forward as they probe Toronto's 30th murder of the year.
Police say Mohammed Gharda, 17, was shot and killed in the Milford Haven Drive and Greenock Avenue of Scarborough just after 3 a.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found two young men with apparent gunshot wounds. Both men were in the same vehicle.
Gharda was pronounced dead, while the second man, 18, was rushed to hospital.
"The victim is currently undergoing surgery in hospital," said Detective Jeff Allington in a news conference Sunday afternoon. "He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and he is expected to survive. However, he does have significant injuries."
There's no word on suspects, but police say there is reason to believe it was a targeted shooting.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen anything out of the ordinary late Saturday evening into Sunday morning, or anyone in the area who has surveillance cameras or dashcam video, to contact them.
