Durham police say there have been seven carjackings in Ajax the past month.
The latest incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Rossland and Audley Rds.
Police say a 56-year-old man was appraoched by two men after he got into his vehicle parked outside his house. One of the suspects sat in the passenger seat, while the other got into the back seat.
Investigators say they demanded the man's wallet and for him to drive them to a bank.
When the victim refused, he was hit with a hand gun and punched, according to police.
The suspects took off after the the driver honked the horn.
This is the seventh carjacking in Ajax since mid-October and police believe the same two suspects are responsible.
Const. George Tudos says there has been a pattern. The suspects seem to target drivers as they are either arriving at home or leaving the house and getting into or out of their vehicles.
The suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
One of the suspects is described as black, thin build, about 6' tall, in his early to mid 20s. He had a deep voice and was wearing grey pants and a grey or white hooded shirt. Police say the suspect had a gun.
The other suspect is described as black, thin build, about 6' tall in his early to mid 20s. He was wearing a dark baseball hat.
