New information from records unsealed by a judge Wednesday show that Toronto Police knew in 2013 now-convicted serial killer Bruce McArthur had a link to three of his eight victims.
About a year into the Project Houston investigation - probing the disappearances of Skandaraj Navaratnam, Abdulbasir Faizi and Majeed Kayhan - McArthur conducted a videotaped interview with Toronto Police.
According to the CBC, investigators found McArthur's username "silverfox51" in a notebook belonging to Faizi and in Navaratnam's deleted email contacts in September of 2013.
On November 11 of that year, McArthur was interviewed as a witness to their disappearances. At that time, he confirmed his email address began with "silverfox51," that he'd had a sexual relationship with Kayhan and that he knew Navaratnam.
However, the serial killer said he had only learned of the men's disappearances because of missing posters in the area.
While Project Houston was shut down in April 2014 due to a lack of criminal evidence, the CBC says Toronto Police looked at McArthur once again for Project Prism in September 2017, following the disappearance of Andrew Kinsman.
The records show he was under daily surveillance from that point onwards.
