Peel Regional Police have laid a charge of public mischief connected to an Amber Alert that turned out to be a false alarm.
32-year old Uzma Khan is accused of calling in a bogus abduction report in the hours before a Mississauga teenager was reported missing by her family.
Police acted on the assumption someone saw the teen being forced into a mini-van in the area of Derry and McLaughlin Rd.'s.
Hours later, on January 16th, the Amber Alert was declared.
However, the teenager turned up safe in Scarborough later that day and the Amber Alert was cancelled.
Authorities say there is no connection between Khan and the teen, or her family.
