Police looking for the public's help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a violent slashing incident at Yonge-Dundas Square.
Constable Allyson Douglas-Cook tells Newstalk1010 that a man was talking with a group of men at the square, when a second man within the group approached him and slashed him in the neck.
That "second man, who was also seen standing within the group, for some reason, was seen concealing a knife."
"I did have 52 Division call asking for assistance with an assault - an aggravated assault investigation which occured last night at Yonge-Dundas Square," says Cst. Douglas Cook, "Friday night at around 9:15 p.m., we responded to reports of a stabbing at the Yonge-Dundas Square."
The victim was taken to hospital in serious condition. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
"We are looking for the male suspect who was last seen fleeing westbound on Dundas Street."
He's described as black, between 18 to 25 years of age, approximately 5'10" to 6 feet with a medium build.
He was wearing a light blue hooded top that says 'Bench' in the front in white letters and he was wearing very distinctive multi-coloured checkered pants and white running shoes.
He was last seen fleeing westbound on Dundas Street.
Anyone with information on the suspect or the incident is asked to call police.
