Even though it's only being called a suspicious death at this point, homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found without vital signs inside a Newmarket apartment, Saturday morning.
York Regional Police were called to the unit on Huron Heights Drive, in the Davis Drive and Leslie Street area, just before 7:30 a.m.
The woman, who had been injured, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has not been identified and there's no word on her age. An autopsy has been scheduled.
Investigators say they are searching for a man who was seen fleeing from the scene without a shirt.
He's described as 25 to 30 years old, about 170 pounds, with long black hair, a thin moustache and a goatee.
Police are asking any witnesses or anyone who may have surveillance footage to come forward.
