Durham police are warning about a man who tried to convince a child to get into his vehicle in Whitby.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon, at about 3 p.m., in the area of Carnwith Dr and Cachet Blvd.
Police say a vehicle approached a nine-year-old boy and offered the child a ride. When the boy refused, police say the driver offered him money to get in the car.
The boy ran home and told his dad, who called police.
The suspect is described as white, about 65-years-old with grey hair and a full white beard. The car is described as a grey or silver four-door. The licence plate may contain the letters BTTV.
