Halton Regional Police came close to nabbing a gang wanted for a recent rash of robberies in the GTA.
Thursday night just after 11:30 p.m. police responded to a robbery at the Royal Pizza, at 134 Guelph Street, in Halton Hills.
A witness provided police with a description of the getaway vehicle and its direction.
A few minutes later, uniformed officers spotted the vehicle, on Mountainview Road South and Delrex Boulevard. Police attempted to box in the car, but were unsuccessful when the vehicle performed dangerous and evasive maneuvers. A pursuit ensued and the suspect vehicle attempted to make contact with a police vehicle. The pursuit was terminated at 11:40pm for public safety reasons.
Police confirm nothing was taken and no one was injured in the attempted robbery involving four suspects, who entered the pizza store wearing masks and asked the victim to open the cash register.
There were no weapons seen. The attempted robbery was interrupted as other patrons entered the store.
The four suspects are described as teenage males, wearing masks and dark clothing.
The suspect vehicle involved is described as a blue 2005 Honda Civic, stolen out of Toronto, with licence plate number BZXV365.
Police are asking if you see the vehicle, to contact them.
The brazen nature of the robberies and age of the men wanted, are very concerning for Detective Sergeant Dave Costantini, of the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau.
"These incidents are particularly disturbing given the reported young age of the perpetrators, the level of violence and their disregard for the safety of others." "We are actively working with our neighbouring services to bring these individuals to justice. I encourage anyone who has information as to the whereabouts of these individuals to contact your local police service or anonymously via your local crime stoppers."
Anybody who may have additional information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact Detective Constable Craig Slade of the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 ext. 2456.
