Toronto Police have released surveillance footage that shows two suspicious incidents early Wednesday morning, just eight minutes apart in the northeast corner of Regent Park.
According to a release, investigators say the first incident took place at exactly 12:43 a.m. in front of 184 River Street.
A man was standing outside when he was approached by two men, one of them dressed completely in white with a hooded garment over his face.
Holding a firearm, he pointed it directly at the man's head but the weapon did not discharge. The two men then walked away and the individual appeared to be unaware of what happened.
Eight minutes later, two suspects - believed to be the same men - walked past a man standing in front of a variety store near 175 River Street.
At this point, both suspects held firearms and chased the victim into the lobby area of a Toronto Community Housing building at 220 Oak Street.
That's when the victim was shot, and the suspects fled the scene on foot.
The victim, 42, was taken to hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound and later released.
Anyone who witnessed the events leading up to the two incidents is being asked to call police at 51 Division or Crime Stoppers.
