Toronto police say investigators have determined a man who suffered a gunshot wound in Rexdale Thusday night accidentally shot him when trying to hide the weapon.
The suspect was armed with a double-barreled sawed-off shotgun when he and another man, who had a .40 calibre handgun, entered a Toronto Community housing courtyard in the Finch Avenue and Albion Road area.
The pair then began shooting in the direction of people who were within the courtyard area. The man with the shotgun fired one shot, the other man at least ten rounds.
They fled on Kendleton Avenue and that's when the man with the shotgun tried to conceal it, at which point he discharged a round, striking himself in the leg.
He was rushed to hospital to get treatment, then arrested there Friday morning.
19-year-old Ojo Oluwaseun of Toronto, is facing a total of 13 charges, including discharging a firearm in a reckless manner and possession of a firearm obtained by crime.
Police continue to search for the second man.
He is described as black, in his 20s, between 5'6" and 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing grey pants and a black hooded top with a white logo on the front.
