Considering all the gun violence, would you be surprised to learn there are about 100 street gangs active in Toronto?
Toronto Police Insp. Joe Matthews tells CTV News Toronto there is, "definitely a street gang turf war that’s going on."
He also confirms what many already know to be true. The shootings have become more brazen.
What's also concerning: Matthews says police are finding more and more modified guns. Semi-automatic weapons are being altered to make them automatic.
Police have seized 56 guns used in crimes since July 1st, about three quarters of which were brought in from the U.S.
It's been a week since Toronto Police launched Project Community Space, a program that puts more officers in at-risk neighbourhoods.
