Police say this attack appears to be random, and it's when it happened, that is most disturbing.
Officers were called to a coffee shop near Bayview and Highway 7 in Richmond Hill on Wednesday night, around 9 o'clock, for a stabbing.
Two people had been stabbed, with a 42-year-old man suffering life-threatening injuries, after being struck several times with a knife. He's since stabilized and is expected to survive the attack.
A second person, a 61-year-old man was taken to hospital but with less serious injuries.
"Given the time of day, it's 9pm, at a busy coffee shop in a busy area we do believe there were a number of people in the area. We ask anyone to contact our investigators." says Const. Andy Pattenden from York Regional Police.
The only description police have right now, is that they are looking for a black man, about 18 to 22-years-old, about 6 feet tall and was wearing a white t-shirt with a black hooded vest.
