Peel Region is dealing with its 11th murder of the year and the second in as many nights.
A man was fatally shot as he stood outisde a home with others on Linderwood Drive, in the Chingacousy Road and Bovaird Drive area of Brampton, Saturday just after 10 p.m.
Peel Regional police and Homicide detectives have been on scene investigating and were joined Sunday morning by the Forensics identification team.
More details are coming out about the victim. Const. Bancroft Wright, who spoke with CP24, confirms the victim has been identified as 26-year-old Nassar Abdoulkader, who was not a resident of the home.
"What we know so far and that we can share, is that he and a number of other individuals were in front of the residence in the driveway. A car pulled up and shots were fired from that car."
Wright adds at this time police have little to go on about that car.
" The description we have on that car at this point is just a dark coloured vehicle. We don't have a plate number or occupants in the vehicle or style of vehicle."
And also little to go on about suspects involved in the driveby shooting and possible motive.
"Homicide investigators will be gathering details from friends, associates of the victim as well as the family in an attempt to determine a timeline and so on of the individual."
Asked whether he believes this shooting was possibly targeted, Wright's response.
"Without using the word targeted, it seems at this point that the individuals or suspects knew who this individual was and who they were going after."
Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen a speeding vehicle in the area or might have dash cam footage to contact investigators.
