York Regional Police now say it was a tumbling recliner that killed a two-year-old Markham boy over the weekend.
Police tell NEWSTALK 1010 the boy's family had stacked up several pieces of furniture in preparation for a move from their home near Kennedy Rd and Denison St.
It seems that on Saturday night the curious toddler went exploring. Police believe the boy pulled down on the recliner and it fell onto him. Police have not shared details about the particular kind of chair but recliners can weigh in excess of 100 lbs.
"The child was taken to SickKids Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries," Staff Sgt. Andrew Bell told NEWSTALK 1010 Sunday.
Police say no charges will be laid calling the case an accident.
