Durham police are looking for a suspect after a 10-year-old boy reported an attempted abduction in Pickering.
At about 6 p.m. Sunday, police say the boy was riding his bike through the area of Amberlea and Napanee Rds when a white Ford work van pulled up beside him.
The boy reported that the driver showed him some candy and a toy and asked him to get in the van.
Police say the boy was smart and took off through a nearby field and told his parents what happened when he got home.
The driver is described as a white man between 35 and 40 years old, with brown eyes, yellow teeth, a deep voice and a scruffy appearance. He was wearing a grey hoodie, black toque, a gold ring and gold chain.
Police say there was a second suspect in the van but they don't have a description.
The van had scratches on the front and was rusted in the back.
Anyone who has seen the van is asked to call police.
