Durham Regional Police are trying to track down at least one suspect believed to be behind a string of daylight break-ins at homes in the eastern part of Whitby.
Authorities have reports of 10 break-and-enters since late October, with 6 of those incidents occurring in the Thickson Road North and Rossland Road East area.
Calder says the break-ins happen while residents are at work. The suspect, or suspects, will pry open doors or windows, and racksack bedrooms.
Police are not able to put a value on the items stolen but say in one case, thousands of dollars in cash was taken from a bedroom.
Calder says residents in the area are being warned to keep valuable items and documents in other parts of the house, and to make sure that neighbours are in the loop about vacation plans.
Authorities ask that anyone with information reach out to Durham Regional Police, or Crime Stoppers.
