The premier of Ontario and mayor of Toronto strongly condemned a company for allowing a long line-up of customers to form Friday, waiting for the release of a new game.
Footage broadcast on a local television news channel showed a line of customers stretching down the block outside a downtown video game shop.
CP24 reported the customers had been queuing at EB Games since around 9 a.m. for a chance to get their hands on a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the latest chapter in a long-running series.
One woman told the station she is currently living with her grandparents but is being ``super careful,'' including by keeping a bottle of hand sanitizer in her backpack.
The TV footage also showed a store employee appearing to hand out flyers to customers in line, some of whom wore masks or covered their faces with scarves.
Premier Doug Ford called it ``unacceptable.''
