It's enough to make you want to hibernate.
Environment Canada says a "pretty major snow storm" will hit southern Ontario this weekend along with sharp winds and unseasonably biting cold.
The GTA could see 10-15 cm of snow, but meteorologist Peter Kimbell warns that so far out from the weekend, that projection is really more of a guess.
Based on current models, Kimbell predicts that snow will start to come down midday Saturday and won't stop falling for about 24 hours. The heaviest snowfall will likely come on Saturday night.
Snowfall totals and timing will depend on the track of the storm.
Whether you head outside to enjoy the snow or just to get it out of the way, you're going to need to pile on a lot of layers to stay warm.
Daytime highs for the weekend are expected to be in the -12 to -15 range, not considering gusting winds that expected to produce a windchill factor of -25 on Sunday night. The normal daytime high for this time of year is -2.
Kimbell doesn't think the system will present any problems for the Monday morning rush beyond piled up snow.
