You might think he would raging mad, but Mike Robinson seems resigned to the fact that the veterinarian who abused his dog plans to care for animals again.
Dr. Mahavir Rekhi, owner of the Skyway Animal Hospital in St. Catharines told NEWSTALK 1010's sister station CKTB Thursday that he planned to be back at work in February.
The College of Veterinarians of Ontario suspended Rekhi over the summer after being caught on video choking, hitting and flinging animals in his care around. Rekhi's suspension was to last 10 months but he was given the opportunity to reduce the term to four months by going through some training.
Robinson's dog Molly was among Rekhi's victims.
"He's not going to give up his livelihood. There's nothing that we can really do to stop him other than continue to get the word out," Robinson tells NEWSTALK 1010's Moore in the Morning." That's his prerogative, that's his right I guess, and as many times as I can I'll stand out front with a sign."
Robinson and his girlfriend have planned a protest outside the St. Catharines clinic Saturday.
"I'm hoping we get a big turnout, and I'm hoping that the word continues to get out there, and I'm hoping that no one goes to this guy but I'm sure there will be some people that will."
The OSPCA has opened an investigation but says it is weeks away from deciding whether any criminal charges are warranted.
