Protesters will be outside the Skyway Animal Hospital after Dr. Mahavir Rekhi, the vet who was caught on camera abusing animals at the clinic told NEWSTALK 1010's sister station CKTB in St Catharines he has no plans on selling the Welland Avenue building.
He told CKTB he plans on reopening the animal hospital, saying he doesn't run away from things.
The people running these protests have a group on Facebook called "Dr. Mahavir Singh Rekhi of Skyway Animal Hospital, Ban Him!" with almost 800 members.
Janice Worth, who helps organize these protests with her boyfriend Mike Robinson, says they plan to host protests in front of Skyway Animal Hospital every Saturday until Dr. Rekhi returns in February, when they will start holding them three times a week.
A petition on Change.org asking the College of Veterinarians of Ontario to revoke Dr. Rekhi's licence has over 40, 000 signatures.
St. Catharines Council has also passed a motion asking the CVO to strengthen penalties for veterinarians convicted of animal abuse.
Brandon Fairbearn, whose dog Takoda can be seen in some of the controversial video footage, has helped organize these protests and calls Takoda the mascot of their campaign.
Fairbearn took his protest to the CVO yesterday where he was told Dr. Rekhi didn't break any laws.
About 25 people joined today's protest.
The OSPCA has opened an investigation but says it is weeks away from deciding whether any criminal charges are warranted.
