New provincial data paints a stark picture at Ontario's long term care homes.
On Sunday, the province released a home-by-home breakdown of the outbreaks.
It shows nearly 180 outbreaks across the province. In four of them, more than 100 people are sick.
In Toronto alone, five homes have more than 20 dead but the worst outbreak is at Orchard Villa in Pickering where 43 people of have died.
So what's going on here?
Seniors' advocates tell the Toronto Star the situation is "appauling" and that hospital teams should be ordered into homes with high death rates.
They point a long term care system that was broken long before COVID-19 began to spread.
This data doesn't even tell the whole story. It does not include outbreaks at retirement homes which, according to the Star, account for almost 80 deaths.
