Environment Canada is delivering a holiday gift in the form of a special weather statement for the Greater Toronto Area.
Meteorologist Steve Knott tells NEWSTALK 1010 a system moving in from Michigan is expected to bring a rain-snow mix overnight. But don't expect to spend your Saturday digging out.
"Maybe two centimetres (of snow) in the northern part of the city," Knott says. "There might even be a brief risk of freezing associated with this, but that would probably be north of the 407."
Forecasters expect a "quiet time" for Christmas Eve, the start of Chanukah and Christmas Day.
But another weather system is expected to blow our way on Monday.
For the GTA it will mean a wet and mild Boxing Day with a projected high of 10 degrees. The current record high on December 26 was set in 1982 when the mercury at Pearson Airport hit 9.8 degrees. The average high for this time of year is right around the freezing mark.
