It's going to be a wet couple of days in the GTA, so wet in fact, that the city says it may have to close the DVP Friday afternoon.
In a news release, the city says the highway may need to be closed as of 3 p.m., "depending on conditions."
A rainfall warning is in effect from Environment Canada, for Toronto and most of the GTA.
Forecasters say between 50 and 90mm of rain could fall between Thursday afternoon and late in the day on Saturday.
That's what we would normally get in an average month of May.
And with the ground already well saturated by a wet spring, the chance of flooding is very real.
"We had 110mm in April, and then another 30-40mm to start the month of May, so it's been pretty wet."
There's also concern among people who own property along Lake Ontario. The lake is at its highest level in 24 years, and is around 51cms above average for this time of year.
The good news though, there is a break on the way.
"We don't have much rain in the forecast after this, although the bad news, there's really no warmth in sight. So, really, it takes us until Mother's Day until we see some warmth at this point." says Peter Kimbell from Environment Canada
