Rallies are being be held in 66 cities across the country, including Toronto, on Saturday.
Hundreds of people are expected to be at them to protest motion M-103.
The motion was tabled by Mississauga Liberal backbencher Iqra Khalid.
It would give representatives the right to condemn Islamophobia and track incidents of hate crimes against Muslims.
But it has generated a backlash online, with petitions garnering thousands of signatures opposing the motion.
Some have warned that Canada is moving towards criminalizing Islamophobia or even to the implementation of Islamic law, called Shariah, in Canada.
The Canadian Coalition of Concerned Citizens says M-103 is useless and the Charter of Rights protects everyone including minorities.
The rally starts at 12 p.m at Nathan Phillips Square.
