Recovery efforts continue for a 23 year-old man who disappeared in the water off Bluffers Park Beach in Scarborough Saturday evening.
The man and his older brother were in the water, when the current carried them about 60 metres off shore. They ran into trouble while trying to get back to safety.
Rescue crews tried to get to them, but both men went under.
The 30 year-old brother reportedly washed up on shore at some point.
He was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
What began as a search more than 24 hours ago, is now a recovery mission.
Crews will remain at the scene until nightfall.
If the body of the victim has not been recovered by then, crews will return in the morning.
The search for the missing man followed two other incidents Saturday at Bluffer's Park.
Just before 7:30 p.m., around the same time emergency crews began their rescue attempts for the two brothers, two bystanders were injured while rescuing a child who was struggling in the rough water.
And about two hours earlier - in a separate case around 5:20 p.m. - a man's body was discovered in the water by a boater.
The body had reportedly been in the water for some time.
Police are treating that case as suspicious.
