You know the redesigned Hydro One bills?
The NDP says it cost $15 million which is going to be passed on to the customer.
"If people have to choose between lower hydro bills and a different looking bill, I don't think there'd be any contest," argues NDP Energy Critic Peter Tabuns.
In 2016, Hydro One conducted a survey and found 62% of customers found their bills easy to read and understand.
"I don't think the problem that we face is a bill that people can't understand. I think the problem is rates that are too high. If you're spending money on things that aren't critical, aren't necessary, in terms of making bills affordable, you're wasting your time, you're focused on the wrong thing," he says.
Tabuns says $5 million has already been spent and is calling on Premier Kathleen Wynne to salvage the remaining $10 million.
"It seems very strange to me that you'd have to spend $15 million in a province full of graphic artists who can redesign a bill. You're not talking about redesigning the whole billing system, you're not talking about redesigning the whole billing system, you're not talking about redesigning the computer and IT systems," Tabuns adds.
